Side Trips: 1 - Trip. X-Corner detour to Sinking Creek to show them the entrance to Sinking Creek. 1 - Duration: 5 minutes Noteworthy Time Delays: Caramel Connection. Took time to scout the proper route. Phil finally has mastered the route. Noteworthy Personal Problems: Brian had trouble twice steaming lenses of glasses (once in Big Passage upon return nearing Floorless Canyon; once from Base Camp 1 and bad up Garbage Pit Hill). Part of this might have been due to no batteries changed by anyone during trip, so perhaps he had low light to sufficiently compensate the lense problem. group size: 4 group members: Philip L. Usually has at least 1 crayfish of length 1-2 inches and one or more smaller. Only saw one small crayfish this time. Sizeable (white) mold seen on small tree branches in a few places near drop-down room that leads to sauce entrance. Crayfish of noteworthy size (2+ inches) plus smaller ones seen in The Sauce pools (water depth 2-3 inches). Upon coming out The Sauce and going up sand hill towards Caramel COnnection, a toad was found 1/2 way up. Toad was placed in camera Otter Box and carried out. Reflections for future: On the trips of the past year, I feel I took people on some side trips early on, too many and for too long, that tired them or slowed progress later in the trip. This trip, despite small side trip to Sinking Creek, I chose to make no side trips, since there were non-cavers waiting in town for us and we were out of time. The waiting people is the main reason I made no side trips on return, but I can say, even if no people waiting, we might have been too tired. So, if I wait too long in the trip for side-trips (i.e., "save the side trips until the end strategy"), they might be too tired. TODO: 1st time with Asolo Iguana and Swaygo bag.
