Minimum Browser Software (one of):
- Netscape 7.0 with Java plug-in 1.3 or higher (no plug-in needed with Mac
OS X)
- Internet Explorer 5 or higher. (Note that if you have Internet Explorer
6, you may have to download and install
the Java Virtual Machine software (JVM) from Sun, at http://java.sun.com/getjava/.
If your browser shows a blank screen for more than a minute or so after you
try to start a lab, you should download the JVM and install it. Then quit
and restart your browser, and try to run the lab again. Hopefully it will
work this time.)

(This text is borrowed from navsurf.com:) When a Java applet fails to
load correctly, the browser will often display an error message that contains
important information to the source of the failure. The error message is either
displayed on the status bar, the Java console or both. Status bar messages are
often sufficient to determine the cause of error. You may also wish to opening
the Java console to get a full description of the error in order to report the
problem to the author of the applet.
The first thing to check is whether Java is enabled in your browser. Although
it is enabled by default on all browsers, it may be accidentally disabled.
- If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options ->
Security and click on Internet. If the security level is set to Custom, click
on default level to set the options back to its default settings.
- If you are using Netscape, go to Preferences -> Advanced and check there
is a check mark beside the "Enable Java" option.
